When people begin to see their machine running a lot slower with many new errors and pop-ups and the like showing up where they never before they begin to ask themselves "Where did all of this spyware come from?" The good thing is if you learn how you got the spyware ion the first place you can stop yourself from ever getting it again! This is why in this article today I am going to be telling you how most people get their computers infected with spyware:
Downloading and Installing Applications
Remember that program you downloaded from that weird looking site? That is where over 95% of infected users get their spyware from. The most common site that does this is file sharing sites (you know the free songs and free movie download sites). Other common sites that regularly install spyware during installation are:
1) Weather tracking on your desktop
2) .exe games (especially games that need an emulator to run)
3) Smiley face emoticon sites!
Email
Remember that weird email you got from a guy you never knew? Well chances are that it was spam and whatever he wanted you to download/view was spyware. The number of people getting duped into clicking on to strange websites is higher than it has ever been. Just remember that if you do not know the person who is emailing you then do not click anything he is linking to! Also watch out for people you know who send you strange emails, there is a chance their email account has been compromised. In the end just use your common sense and only click attachments or links that look legit.
